This piece, "Take and Eat", is the fruit of many hours of reflection on the comparisons between the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden and the Fruit of Mary's womb, i.e. Jesus Christ. "Take and Eat" is a two-fold creation, consisting of a poem of my own composition and an illustration.

The poem begins with the words of the Serpent to Eve. We see the same image in the illustration; Eve takes the fruit from the Serpent, but she looks away from the Tree - she doesn't see that her blessed fault and the words of the Serpent have set in motion the greatest love story ever told.

The poem begins to unwind with the words of the Angel Gabriel and of Elizabeth to Mary, culminating in a perfect reversal of the Serpent's words by Christ. I've chosen to show Christ on the very same Tree from which Eve took the Forbidden Fruit, with the Eucharistic sacrifice offered by the Priest on our behalf - no longer turning away from God as did Eve, but turning toward Him.

Print Details: 7x10" print. Printed on 100% Cotton velvet textured fine art paper. Signed and numbered print. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Frame not included; recommended to mat to 8.5x11" or 9x12" frame. Limited to 50 prints.
