Miserere Mei - Psalm 51

It features a luxuriant capital 'M' illuminated in gold with red vines and violet flowers.

In the NRSV - CE English translation of the Bible, the first verse of Psalm 51 - universally recognized as one of the most beautiful penitential Psalms of David, written after his affair with Bathsheba - reads: "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions." The full context of the Psalm expresses David's heartfelt contrition for his sin and is a plea for His mercy.

This piece is a transcription of the Latin Vulgate translation, where the verse instead appears as Psalm 50:3, reads: "Miserere mei, Deus, secundum magnam misericordiam tuam; et secundum multitudinem miserationem tuarum, dele iniquitatem meam."

Paper options: matte poster and velvet fine art.

Finish: Available as basic (no gold leaf added), imitation gold leaf, and genuine 24kt gold leaf. Imitation gold leaf has a very bright, flat shine; genuine gold has a somewhat raised appearance, and a beautiful but slightly less bright shine than imitation gold.

Basic prints will ship directly from the printer, Artelo, based in Kentucky. All gold leaf prints will be printed and hand-embellished in house by the artist. Frames are not offered for gold leaf.

Frames: Standard metal frames have a UV protective acrylic cover. Premium oak frames have a UV protective glass cover. Frames will include hanging hardware and are also shipped from Artelo.
